bsb.com : the website

Sorry I haven’t posted for a while.

Most blogs that begin with that sentence usually signify the beginning of the end.  Sorry I haven’t posted in a while usually translates to, I’ve been busy with things that are now of more importance to me and I might not post here again.  This is NOT the case for bugshutterbug.com.  In fact, it’s quite the opposite!  Since the inception of bugshutterbug.com, it’s been just a blog.  All pages of content are a part of a weblog in which content is added though the Wordpress publishing platform .  However, I’m currently making bsb.com a full-blown, honest-to-goodness website with content focusing around the photography of insects.

I have to admit that it took me less than an hour to put this blog together a few months ago.  Wordpress and the hundreds of plugins and “themes” found on the net make blog creation nearly effortless.  As a graphic designer though, there’s something left to be desired with the ease of Wordpress. I’m like a grease monkey that has bought a brand new car which doesn’t have any problems.  Where’s the fun in that? I want to pop open the hood and get my hands dirty!  So that is why I’ve been spending my evenings learning CSS and hand-coding the foundation of the new site.  It’s taking much longer than I thought, but the payoff of a larger, more energetic website should be worth it.

I’d like to say the site should be done by next week, but I originally hoped to have the site ready today, for the release of my book.  So just be patient and visit often.  You’ll know when the site has launched when you type in bugshutterbug.com and find something looking a bit like this:
